About this policy
This policy describes information handled through controlstrainer.com, the ControlsTrainer educational platform operated by John Clore. It covers the website, training accounts, progress records, purchases, and support communications.
Questions about your information can be sent through the contact form or to info@controlstrainer.com.
Information collected
- Account information: your name, email address, account identifier, password hash, account creation date, and access status. Passwords are processed for sign-in; the account system stores a password hash.
- Training information: saved exercise state where supported, completed levels, completion dates, and certificate identifiers. Your name may appear on certificates you generate.
- Purchase information: payment status, amount, currency, and Stripe transaction or customer identifiers associated with your account. Payment details are submitted through Stripe checkout.
- Technical information: requests to the website can produce hosting and security logs, such as IP address, browser information, pages requested, and request times. Sign-in protection also uses login-attempt records and a hashed IP identifier.
- Communications: information you send when requesting support or using the contact or quote forms, such as your name, school or company, email, phone number, message, and any screenshots or issue details you provide. We use it to reply to you.
How information is used
Information is used to create and authenticate accounts, provide purchased access, save supported training progress, generate completion records, process payments, respond to requests, understand website usage, diagnose problems, and help prevent abuse.
Payment and account records may also be needed for bookkeeping, disputes, and applicable legal obligations.
Cookies, browser storage & analytics
The account system uses a session cookie to keep you signed in. Training tools may also save exercise information in your browser. Browser storage and server-side progress records are different; saving behavior can vary by lesson.
The website uses Statcounter for traffic analytics. Depending on the site and provider configuration, analytics can process information about visits, pages viewed, referrals, devices, browsers, and IP addresses, and may use cookies. See Statcounter’s privacy information for its practices.
You can manage cookies and stored site data through your browser settings. Blocking cookies can prevent sign-in, and clearing site data can remove locally saved exercise work. Save or export your work where the lesson provides that option before clearing browser data.
Service providers & disclosures
Website hosting providers process information needed to deliver and maintain the site. Stripe processes payments, and Statcounter provides traffic analytics. Information sent to those services is also subject to their policies. Read Stripe’s Privacy Policy.
Some reference pages, including the Level 3 wire schedule, load fonts from Google Fonts. Your browser connects to Google to request those fonts, which transmits technical request information such as your IP address and browser headers. See Google Fonts privacy information.
Service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Their locations and practices are described in their policies.
Information may be disclosed when needed to comply with applicable law or a valid legal request, address fraud or security incidents, or protect legal rights. Information you choose to share yourself, such as a downloaded certificate or screenshot, is available to its recipients.
Retention & security
Account, training, transaction, and support information is retained as needed to provide the service and address accounting, security, dispute, and legal requirements. Retention can differ by record type; deleting an account does not necessarily require immediate deletion of every transaction record or backup.
The account implementation uses password hashing and session controls. No website, storage system, or transmission method can guarantee absolute security. Use a unique password and do not send passwords or payment-card details in support messages.
Your requests & choices
Use the contact form or write to info@controlstrainer.com to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account information, or to ask about your privacy options. Identify the account email and the request without including your password. Identity verification may be needed before account information can be disclosed or changed.
Available rights and exceptions depend on the laws that apply to you. Some information may need to be retained for legal, security, or transaction purposes. Deleting an account can affect access to training progress, certificates, and purchased access; ask about those effects before requesting deletion.
Policy updates
